Elements of Art
This was a project to show the different elements of art in different images. The four elements were line, shape, value, and texture. Line showing how multiple places in a image lead to one point. Shape being many of the same types or similar shape in the same image. Value showing a large contrast of light at two points of the image, Finally, texture showing an image that represents how an object feels, whether rough, or soft, and so on.
Line: This image chosen for line was of chess pieces on a chess table. I set this up because it seemed to create a figurative line that led to the center of the picture. This image was taken at 1/125 shutter speed and aperture of f/5.6. It Photoshop the image the curve was then edited to make the image more balanced all around.
Shape: I was at my friends house playing pool when I saw the perfect opportunity to get a picture of similar shapes. It was taken on top of a pool table in which there was a perfect image seeing as all of the pool balls were the same shape and size. This image was taken at 1/60 shutter speed and at an aperture of f/5.6. The curve was then edited in Photoshop to give more contrast to the image making the image look better.
Value: This image was taken at Stinson beach in San Francisco. As I looked out the side window I saw this as an opportunity to get an image of contrast between the light of the sun and darkness at the beach. To get a greater contrast the image was taken at a shutter speed of 1/500 and and an aperture of f/2.4. It was then edited further in Photoshop to create an even bigger contrast between light and dark.
Texture: This was an image taken at my house and of a towel. Because it appears soft I feel that it was a good representation of a texture, in this case soft. This image was taken at a 1/4 shutter speed and a f/52.5 shutter speed. It was then edited in Photoshop the make the other edges appear blurry so that there is more focus on the center.
